Our History

Cities4Children child bike city

The Global Alliance – Cities4Children was launched in February 2020 at the World Urban Forum. Since then, the membership has expanded to over 25 member organisations. Save the Children has led Cities4Children since it was established. Our website went live in June 2022 and we have developed it to be a central knowledge hub for everything cities, children and young people.

Cities4Children was established to tackle the huge challenges and numerous issues faced by children living in urban areas, especially the most marginalized children. We believe that together we will achieve greater collective impact and influence, we will avoid replication, we will be able to encourage country and city level collaboration and will have a louder voice with joint advocacy and communications to place children and young people at the centre of the urban agendas.
